Year 2 continues your child’s progress through Key Stage 1. Mathematics and English lessons continue to be taught each morning, with the work differentiated for each child.
Information is provided via the child’s academic planner. This document outlines ways parents can support and help their child and extends the communication between school and home.
The curriculum continues to be enhanced at Year 2 by educational visits. Pupils learn about the Victorians at Shugborough Hall in Staffordshire, with its nineteenth-century farmlands, and about the Tudors at Harvington Hall, with its priest holes and connections to the Gun Powder Plot and Guy Fawkes. Likewise, a visit to the Barber Institute enriches the Art curriculum, and Geography field trips enhance the pupils’ understanding of roads and house, streets and roads.
Year 2 is the capstone of what we believe to be the very best start for your child’s education. At the end of their time with us in Pre-Prep School, they will be well on their way to achieving their full potential as they move into the Prep School.
