U9 Red Team VS Winterfold

It was the first netball match of the season for the U9 girls, and after not a lot of training we were straight to it! We headed over to Winterfold and had a game to test our fitness with a match that was over half an hour long. It was a very close start. Winterfold had the first attempt at goal but we overturned possession and soon had the ball in our attacking third. Aditi scored a beautiful goal from quite far out to put us ahead. Winterfold then fought back an equalised. In the second and third quarter Winterfold pulled away. Although our defense worked really hard and overturned the ball several times, we couldn’t capitalise on the chances. In the final quarter, Hallfield came out fighting. We had almost all of the possession and lots of goal scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, we couldn’t quite get the ball in the net, but the teamwork and domination of play was superb. Hannah was voted as girl of the game for her excellent defensive play. Well done to all the girls, you will go from strength to strength this term if you keep up the hard work!

Green Team (A) VS Winterfold

On a cold and blustery day the girls played their first match of the season against Winterfold. During the first quarter the team tried hard but struggled to get the ball out of defence allowing Winterfold lots of possession in their shooting circle. As the match progressed the girls grew in confidence, some excellent work from Halima in defence limited Winterfold’s shooting opportunities and allowed Hallfield more of the ball in the attacking third. There was some good passing down the court and fine catching from Ying Ying enabled the girls to put pressure on Winterfold, but unfortunately not to score a goal. A great deal was learnt from this game, the girls played with increasing determination which will help them to experience success in the future. Well done, girls!

U10 A and B Rugby

The A team got off to a slow start in their match against Prestfelde. Having not had much tackling practice due to the frozen ground it took us until the second quarter to wake up and start tackling. Max, as ever, ran superbly with the ball and did a large proportion of the tackling. Others chipped in well with Anay, Cai and Tega making good yards with the ball. In the last 2 quarters the scores were very even and the boys came off the pitch having improved a lot.

The B team put on a great show against Prestfelde in an evenly matched tag game. Hallfield started well with strong running from Neo, Oskar, Aarav and Joshua, with some good support play by all the team to open up a two try lead. Committed tagging from everyone kept Prestfelde at bay and we maintained the lead at half time. Hallfield improved their defensive positioning as the game went on and continued to run in some great tries from all areas of the pitch. Despite Prestfelde having a couple of strong runners, Hallfield ended up worthy winners: 15:12

U11 A and B Rugby v Prestfelde

The A team tried hard and, at times, played some good rugby but were beaten by a more experienced and well drilled Prestfelde team.

The B team played a half of tag and then a half of contact rugby. In attack we ran well with the ball but made a few too many mistakes in defence. Both games were very close and we just lost out to them have one or two slightly quicker boys.
