Little Steps To Loving Literacy, at Bear Bookshop.
Last Saturday, the sky was blue and the sun shone down on our very first literacy workshop, Little Steps To Loving Literacy, at Bear Bookshop. It was fantastic!

Several Hallfield Foundation and Reception families joined members of the community there to enjoy a series of wonderful book shares with the proprietor, Jenny McCann, and visiting local author, Sue Powell.
The children (and parents!) sat and listened beautifully to The Colour Monster (by Anna Llenas) exploring a range of feelings and emotions we often experience; Rustle’s Great Adventure by Sue Powell was brought to life with brightly coloured puppets and natural props from Warley Woods to engage and delight the audience.
These weekly workshops are designed to support and supplement the work that our early years pupils are following at school, and also offer a relaxing opportunity for parents to learn more about the process of early reading and how to develop it at home.
All this helps to improve a child’s academic performance, as well as cater for other crucial aspects of early development such as the range of personal, social and emotional needs often encountered during this phase.
We’ll be sharing a very popular, classic book this Saturday (September 24th) at Bear Bookshop, 588 Bearwood Road, B66 4BW – do come along with your child to join in the fun!
There’s so much to enjoy at this beautiful haven with a huge range of delightful books and many imaginative learning resources.
No booking is required but you may wish to telephone Jenny on 0121 794 1959 for more details!
