Aftercare is a service offered by Hallfield School for those families needing child care at the end of the School day. Pre-Prep and Prep School children are catered for separately, and members of our Afternoon Clubs – in which much of our co-curricular activities take place – can be sent to Aftercare once over the club has finished.

Our younger children are supervised by Hallfield staff. We adhere to the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage, and activities are planned accordingly. Year 1 and Year 2 children have a choice of games using both indoors and outside and include imaginative play and art activities. Children staying after 4.30pm are served tea, comprising of an assortment of sandwiches, fruit or cake. When the weather is fine, all children can enjoy the extensive play facilities and play areas.

Prep School Aftercare is located in the School’s Bistro, from which the children can be collected by parents via the Aftercare entrance in the Courtyard. Children in the Prep School make their own way to the Bistro at the end of their school day, where they will be registered, given a drink and a biscuit and allowed to go outside to play (supervised). In inclement weather, they will proceed indoors. At 4.30pm, a formal homework session starts.

Aftercare is arranged on a daily basis via the form teacher at morning reception. The first session runs directly from after school until 4.30pm, at a charge of £3.50; the second session stretches from 4.30pm to 6.00pm at a charge of £12.20. During the second session children are given a hot meal at 5.05 once the half-hour homework session ends. There is unfortunately a substantial surcharge made for late collection after 6.05pm.
