U9 Reds vs The Priory, 3-1 Win

The U9 Red team played well against The Priory on Tuesday. Our catching confidence and moving into space continue to improve and we used this play to our advantage to move the ball quickly down the court. An accurate shot by Aditi saw us leading 1-0 in the first quarter. It was a similar story in the second quarter. The Priory had a boy in defence making lots of the interceptions, however we reciprocated by overturning play and preventing their attempts at goal. By half time we were leading 2-0. In the third quarter, The Priory came back strongly. Keeping closer when marking would have seen us stop their play more effectively, but The Priory broke through and scored, making it 2-1. In the final quarter, Hallfield came out fighting, determined to stop anymore goals from the opposition. There were a few missed attempts from our shooters, but Halima finished it off with a successful shot, making the final score 3-1. Maidah was voted as the Girl of the Game for her excellent work in centre court. Well done to all the girls who played!

U10 A and B Rugby

The A team got off to a slow start in their match against Prestfelde. Having not had much tackling practice due to the frozen ground it took us until the second quarter to wake up and start tackling. Max, as ever, ran superbly with the ball and did a large proportion of the tackling. Others chipped in well with Anay, Cai and Tega making good yards with the ball. In the last 2 quarters the scores were very even and the boys came off the pitch having improved a lot.

The B team put on a great show against Prestfelde in an evenly matched tag game. Hallfield started well with strong running from Neo, Oskar, Aarav and Joshua, with some good support play by all the team to open up a two try lead. Committed tagging from everyone kept Prestfelde at bay and we maintained the lead at half time. Hallfield improved their defensive positioning as the game went on and continued to run in some great tries from all areas of the pitch. Despite Prestfelde having a couple of strong runners, Hallfield ended up worthy winners: 15:12.

U11 A and B Rugby v Prestfelde

The A team tried hard and, at times, played some good rugby but were beaten by a more experienced and well drilled Prestfelde team.

The B team played a half of tag and then a half of contact rugby. In attack we ran well with the ball but made a few too many mistakes in defence. Both games were very close and we just lost out to them have one or two slightly quicker boys.

U10 A vs EHS written by Leila and Daya

The year 5 girls went to EHS for our first netball fixture this term. We warmed up beforehand to get rid of any nerves and we were soon ready for the match. We walked over to their netball courts and started the match. We started off quite nervous even though we tried to get rid of our nerves before because the EHS girls had been playing netball for 2 terms and we were playing for one. But we did not let that dampen our hopes. EHS got the first centre pass whilst we chose which side we wanted to shoot. We got into our positioning and waited for the whistle. The game was on. We ran for all we were worth but since the EHS girls were taller than us it was quite hard to mark them. Nicole scored the goal as we were all getting back in our positions again when it was EHS’s ball again and they scored another 2 goals.

We stayed strong through, passing the ball well to each other. The marking of our opponents was exceptionally good, and we stayed alert, watching the EHS girls and intercepting passes where we could. We improved through the match. Despite all our efforts, we lost 6-1. Player of the match went to Leila, but all the girls worked hard, and we should be proud of our efforts in the game. Our first match was not a win, but we all had fun which is the most important thing, and we can now go back to our lessons with areas to practice on. All the girls tried their hardest and I think all the girls did exceptionally well and never gave up.

U10 B vs EHS written by Sylvie and Aman

The first game of the season was an exciting one, EHS were one of the best teams we have ever played! However, we did have a bit of a disadvantage due to EHS playing 2 terms of netball instead of just one like us.

We lost the match 1-10. At the start of the match, EHS took the centre pass. As their passes were very fast and accurate, they had multiple shots in the first 6-minute quarter. After the first quarter, we started to pass quicker and get the ball down the other end which resulted in a goal in the third quarter. Siyana scored the goal; it was terrific and we were all cheering.

At the end, each school did their 3 cheers and EHS insisted on choosing a Girl of the Game. We chose Goal Attack and they chose Centre which was Aman.
