Friday 7th October
After school on Friday the U11 Basketball squad walked over to St Georges to play a mix of their Year 7 and 6 boys, including Old Hallfieldian Thomas Bartley. As the weather was wet the match had to be played in their small gym with high hoops. It took us a while to get used to the cramped conditions and their taller defence. Despite losing the boys enjoyed the experience and learnt a lot.
Tuesday 11th October
The U9A team drew 1-1 with Wolverhampton GS but we had far more chances than they did. Aarav scored an excellent goal but then we hit the bar, missed a penalty and looked like grabbing a winner but unfortunately were denied. Maxwell Cullen continued his amazing season and read the game very well making some important tackles. It was great preparation for the tournament on the Wednesday.
The U9B/C team conceded the first goal against the run of play when they broke free and scored with a fine strike. After that we managed to equalise and then in the final quarter scored three more. Well done to everyone but particularly Hadi, Henry , Mahdi and Rueben for scoring.
On Tuesday Hallfield U9’s enjoyed three matches against Highclare. The A-team match was an excellent display of skills and tackles from both sides and the ball was end to end throughout the whole of the first third. However, at the last minute, Hallfield took a chance and passed the ball straight through the middle of the pitch towards Eve waiting in the D to take the shot. We had two more goals through the remainder of the game scored by Eve who was picked evidentially to be our Girl of the Game.
The B-team played well and moved the ball around the pitch with confidence and purpose. We put lots of pressure on the opposing defenders which gave us the edge to score multiple goals. It was lovely to see the confidence of some of our girls’ progress as the game continued some started trying out new skills and tactical decisions. Well done to Mia on being voted Girl of the Game and a special commendation from the Highclare teacher for her impeccable manners and sportsmanship.
The C-team started off in a very close match with Highclare and the ball was end to end. We managed to get one goal in before halftime. After a team talk about tactics Hallfield were a lot more dominant in the second half managing to score a further 4 more goals. A great play from the whole team and a special mention to our Girl of the Game, Jiya

U9 A team Prestfelde Tournament
– Old Hall 2-0 Arjan and Anay
– Ellesmere 2-0 Arjan and Anay
– Prestfelde 0-0
– West House 0-2
– Packwood 0-0
– Birchfield 0-1
This was an amazing day at Prestfelde and many memories were created. We started brightly and worked as a team with intricate passes and team spirit. 2 early wins set us off on the right foot and we stormed up the table but a few errors in the short games meant that we lost a couple of matches. Rayyan, Yusef, Maxwell, Cai, Arjan, Aarav and Anay were all fantastic and we ended up finishing third! Well done!

The opening game was a nail biter as Moreton Hall scored first and we had chance after chance to equalise. Luckily we did manage to score and we relieved to come off the pitch with a draw. The pick of the games was against Prestfelde where Pavan scored a hattrick in a 4 – 1 win. But, well done to everyone as overall we also ended up 3rd!?
