U10 A Hockey v Eversfield, 7.11.22, lost 6-1

A first mixed math for the Year 5s. The team worked well together and produced some good play. They worked hard to move the ball around the pitch and tackled with determination to win back the ball when possession was lost. Unfortunately, they were unable to contain a very strong Eversfield team and were defeated on this occasion. Mary was voted as player of the game due to her excellent keeping skills.

U10 B Hockey v Eversfield, 7.11.22, won 3-2

Good teamwork from all of the players lead to an exciting game. The team worked hard in defence to clear their lines and the attack were full of running. At half time Hallfield were leading 2-0. With some tactical changes Eversfield came back in the second half, they scored to halve the deficit but dominant play in attack by Hallfield resulted in a third goal being scored. Eversfield replied late on to make it 3-2 and set up a nervy last few minutes, however, Hallfield were able to hang on to secure a 3-2 win. Hari was voted as player of the game due to his hard-work and determination throughout. Super team play from all of the squad.

U9A vs Eversfield A 08.11.22, 0-2 loss

We put out a mixed boys’ and girls’ hockey team against Eversfield’s mixed team on Tuesday this week. We won the toss and started with the ball. Eversfield were strong on the attack, but we had a strong defensive team with Eko, Yueqi and Freya making it difficult for Eversfield to get through. Daya stood firm in midfield and made some excellent tackles, sending some good balls through to our attack. Sylvie made a good save in the first half but unfortunately Eversfield managed to break through and score before half time. In the second half, we were stronger in attack with Mahdi and Aisha both making great runs down the wing and finding Eve as Centre Forward. Unfortunately, we could not break the Eversfield defence and, despite a few attempts at goal, their Goalkeeper was too strong for us to get through. Eversfield managed to get another goal and the final score was 2-0. Freya was voted as player of the game for her excellent play both in defence and midfield. Well played everyone.

U9B vs Eversfield B 08.11.22, 3-0 win

The U9B team was also our first mixed boy and girl hockey team of the academic year, playing Eversfield on Tuesday. We won the toss and started off with the ball. Hallfield were dominant on the pitch and quickly found our stride. There were some excellent runs from Saffron and Vardhan on the wings with Aarav proving a strong midfielder, making superb passes through to our wingers and Mia as Centre Forward. It was not long until Aarav found the back of the net – however, it was unfortunately shot from outside the D so was disallowed! Hallfield came back strongly, and Aarav shot again, this time from within the D. It was 1-0 to Hallfield at half-time. In the second half, Layla and Nicole were an unstoppable force in defence, foiling any attempt of Eversfield’s at goal and leaving Aman in goal without a lot to do. There was some fantastic play and soon both Mia and Saffron had also found the back of the net, finishing the match at 3-0 to Hallfield. Vardhan was voted as player of the game for his excellent tackling work, passing and runs down the wing. Well done to all the children.

U11 vs Norfolk House 9.11.22, 1-2 loss

The U11 girls loss the toss against Norfolk House so our opposition started with the ball. There was some great play in midfield by Hiba and Diah and possession was soon overturned. Our attack of Hiba, Samantha and Sophia worked tirelessly at goal and had many attempts, but the Norfolk House defence was just too strong for us. Norfolk House made a break away and despite Mahek saving the first attempt at goal, they succeeded with their second shot. It was 1-0 at half time. We spoke about the need to help out our defence and the second half certainly saw the girls tracking back to help out a lot more. Again, we were strong on attack and despite multiple shots, we just could not get through the Norfolk House defence. There was some great overturn of play by our defenders, Sofia, Bella, Safeya and Mavis but unfortunately Norfolk House made it passed us once more and capitalised on their chance. With more relentless play by our girls, we finally beat Norfolk House and Hiba found the back of the net. The final score was 2-1 to Norfolk House. The girls played really well and had the majority of the possession, so they were unlucky not to walk away with the win. Samantha was voted as girl of the game due to her excellent positioning and runs down the wing. Well done to the girls.
