U9 Rugby v Solihull

A team – lost 13 – 12
B team – won 20 – 15
C team – lost 7 – 6
D team – won 8 – 5
There were some very exciting games of rugby against Solihull for the U9s on Tuesday. The A team just lost to some slightly bigger and stronger boys, but we ran well with the ball and our passing was superb. The B team were level at half time but they made sure they did not run off the pitch in the second half and this made the difference to win comfortably in the end. The C team was a nail biter, and we think Solihull just won! We tried hard and just needed to make a few more tackles. The D team had a fine win playing tag, with some great running from the whole squad.

U9 Red Team vs Winterfold

The U9 Red Team had a tough game against Winterfold on Tuesday. Winterfold started with the ball and were dominant in possession. We had a few early chances at goal but could not quite find the back of the net. Winterfold pressured our defence well and managed to get through our forces a few times. Winterfold won the game, but I was very proud of our girls’ resilience and perseverance throughout. They never let their heads drop and played together very well. Keep up the hard work!

U11 Triangular vs Dodderhill and Norfolk House

A mixture of U11 girls took on Norfolk House and Dodderhill in a triangular fixture on Wednesday. Hallfield dominated possession against both sides with a strong midfield comprised of Zia and Kathryn, supported by good running up the wings from Ellen and Mia. Anya held her position well up front throughout both games and had good chances on goal, backed up by her wings. Norfolk House had an excellent goalkeeper who managed to keep out the majority of our shots on target, however we did sneak one past from a powerful shot which deflected in. In both games, Norfolk House and Dodderhill broke through our attack and made their own plays at goal. Hana and Malaikah stood strong and did not let anything trouble our goalkeeper in the first game with Norfolk House. In the second game with Dodderhill, Mary had a few saves to make but kept a clean sheet. We won both games 1-0, and Kathryn was voted as Girl of the Game in both matches. Well done girls!

U11 vs Solihull

U11 A v Solihull – lost 7 – 5

U11 B v Solihull – lost 8 – 5

U11 C v Solihull – lost 13 – 5

All the U11 teams tried hard against a strong Solihull year group. The A team showed some great passing, running and tackling skills and, as the game went on, gradually improved their break down skills. The B team came up against some big boys who powered through our tackles, but we kept going and scored some great team tries in reply.

U8 vs Solihull

U8 A v Solihull – won 10 – 9

U8 B v Solihull – lost 12 – 9

U8 C v Solihull – won 14 – 7

It was great to see all the Year 3 boys putting their newly acquired rugby skills into full games of tag against Solihull Prep School. All the games were closely fought and all the boys learnt a huge amount from the games. It was great that they all were keen to play again and were asking when the next match was. Well done boys!

U8s Triangular with Highclare

The U8 girls were split into 4 teams for their first matches on full-length pitches. We worked hard on keeping positions and getting the girls used to different roles on the pitch. We saw some great runs with the ball, some outstanding tackling and clearance of the ball, and we will continue to work on the strength of our pass. The final results were:

Red vs Highclare 0-0

Green vs Highclare 0-2 L

Red 1-0 Green

Blue vs Highclare 3-0 W

Purple vs Highclare 2-0 W

Blue 2-0 Purple

Well done girls, you have done so much learning and made so many improvements this term!
