The inaugural Old Hallfieldians v. Staff cricket match took place on a rare warm May evening and the staff were put in to bat. The Old Hallfieldians soon took a few wickets but Jon Moffatt and Dave Tobin halted the slide and brought the total into the 90s. A final flourish by Scott Hewer and Chris Wordsworth set the Old Hallfieldians a total of 135 to win.

In reply, the Old Hallfieldians got off to a blistering start with Ed Botha smashing the ball around the pitch. After he retired the run rate subsided but Tim Venner, Sanam Chawla and Rob Hall kept the scoreboard ticking over and in the last over the OHs needed 6 to win. Tim Butcher bowled accurately with two dot balls and a wicket. That meant that Ed returned to the crease and finished the game off by hitting the last ball of the match for 6 to win the game.

A truly gripping match, where everyone was involved; everyone batted and nearly everyone bowled. Well done to those who played, and a big thank you to Holroyd Howe for the fine BBQ, Alex the umpire and OH Cameron Fraser for the OH caps.
