Two new cutting-edge classrooms were delivered by leading construction company, Tyto Contracting Ltd. The facilities include two classrooms, a modern common room and upgraded male and female toilets.

Open in time for the new academic term, each classroom can accommodate up to 18 pupils. Separated by a bi-fold partitioned wall, a flexible and multi-purpose space can also be created when required.

The project is part of an ongoing programme of investment at Hallfield School, which caters for more than 520 pupils up to the age of 13.

The new classrooms bring the total investment in school facilities to £6 million over the last five years.

The programme has been designed to enhance the educational and extra-curricular experience for pupils of all ages, by upgrading key facilities and creating new spaces.

Keith Morrow, Head Master at Hallfield School, said: “As a school we have been enriching the lives of the next generation for nearly 150 years with a varied and evolving curriculum. Our latest investment underlines our commitment by providing best-in-class environments for both our teachers and pupils.

“Our new classrooms complement our existing, impressive facilities – such as a dedicated food technology suite and a radio and podcast studio – as we help our pupils hone new and existing skills at their own pace.

“We have been impressed with Tyto Contracting over the past seven months, including their vision, professionalism and ability to deliver on time to ensure pupils have access to the new facilities for the start of the academic year.

The expansion works initially saw an existing building demolished to facilitate a striking, modern single-storey new building, which now includes a sawtooth roof with acoustic panelling and exposed beaming to complement the existing Georgian building.

Andrew Higham, Construction Manager at Tyto Contracting, said: “We have thoroughly enjoyed working closely with Hallfield School to realise their vision for a modern and flexible environment. The new space will benefit teachers and pupils to support the highest standard of learning whilst contrasting the historic architecture of the existing building and wider area.

“As an organisation we are passionate about delivering projects that have a meaningful impact in communities, such as Hallfield School, and we hope it can play a key role in nurturing future generations for many years to come.”

Tyto Contracting works on newbuild and refurbishment projects in the commercial, public, logistics, education, leisure, and light industrial sectors in and around the Midlands.
