An Exciting First: Year 2 Take on Their First Ever Residential!
Our Year 2 pupils embarked on their very first residential trip — an exciting overnight stay at Gulliver’s Kingdom in Matlock Bath. At just 6–7 years old, it was a big step, filled with fun, friendship, and personal growth. The experience encouraged independence, confidence, and teamwork — all key qualities we strive to nurture at Hallfield.

Day 1: Daring Adventures and Dinosaur Dreams
With backpacks on and big smiles, Year 2 boarded the coach full of excitement for their overnight stay. The first stop was the Peak District Mining Museum, where the children got hands-on with history — climbing through tunnels, learning about life as a miner, and even panning for gold! After that, they headed to Gulliver’s Kingdom, where their adventurous spirit truly shone. From zip wires to high ropes, the children showed amazing bravery and teamwork. Later, they explored their themed bedrooms — Pirate Quarters for the boys and Promenade Place for the girls — before tucking into a well-earned dinner of pizza, chips, or jacket potatoes. The evening was packed with fun: a cosy campfire, a spooky ghost house, a dinosaur workshop, and even the Singing Bears experience. It was a magical end to a very special first day.

This week marked a major milestone for our Year 2 pupils, as they set off on their very first residential trip to Gulliver’s Kingdom in Matlock Bath. At just 6–7 years old, this overnight adventure was not only a fun-filled experience, but also a valuable opportunity for our young learners to develop independence, build confidence, and create lasting memories with their friends and teachers. At Hallfield, we believe in nurturing resilience and curiosity from an early age — and this trip was a shining example of that ethos in action.
