Hallfield are IAPS U13 Over-The-Board Chess Champions!

Our IAPS Over-The-Board Team Chess Champions have achieved remarkable success once again. A talented group of players represented Hallfield at the IAPS Chess Championships held at Aldro School in April. The venue’s picturesque setting and excellent weather contributed to an enjoyable experience for both players and parents. Our team successfully defended the IAPS U13 title, a championship we have held continuously since 2018. In the individual event, Handuo had an outstanding event and was crowned joint U11 Champion.

Leading school outside of London at the National Primary School Chess Championship

The National Primary School Chess Championship is among the most significant events of the year, attracting hundreds of top chess schools nationwide. After winning our zonal stage and the semi-final in Nottingham, we qualified for the Under 9 and Under 11 finals at Westminster Under School on 28th and 29th June. Our players enjoyed the event, engaging in cricket during breaks and competing in nine challenging games over two days against some of the best junior players in the country. We finished as the leading school outside Central London in both categories, reflecting the dedication and hard work of our talented players.

Medal success in the Solihull Junior Chess Championship

A few of our students participated in the Solihull Junior Chess Championship at the end of June. Notably, Jonathan, Hayder, and Zain  earned medals, while Alex , who only began learning chess last September, won the U11 D category. His rapid progress marks him as a promising talent for the future.

Krish is Warwickshire Chess Grand Prix Champion!

In the Warwickshire Chess Grand Prix, the top-performing player in each age group is awarded the title of Grand Prix Champion. This year, Krish, despite being only U10, excelled as the top U11 boy, earning a trophy and free entry to next year’s Warwickshire junior tournaments. Congratulations to Krish for his outstanding achievement.

Good luck and a fond farewell!

A couple of our players are set to participate in the British Chess Championships in Liverpool during the summer break. We extend our best wishes to Aariyan and Krish for success in the competition.

At this time of year we also sadly bid farewell to all of our Year 6 chess students, and thank Pavan, Aarav, and Arnav for their contributions to the Hallfield chess team. Many congratulations also go to Aarav and Arnav on winning the chess award during Speech Day. We hope they’ll be returning for the Old Hallfieldian Blitz Chess event on 7th October!

Congratulations also go to Jacob who won the Yr3 chess scholarship and who has a bright chess future ahead of him.
