On Monday 25th November, our Hallfield musicians from Years 4, 5 and 6 treated us to a concert where they impressed parents and staff alike with their musical abilities.
First to take the stage was Aran in Year 4 who played ‘Minuet’ on his cello. Sienna in Year 5 followed with her piano rendition of ‘Lesson in C’ by Anton Diabelli. Thomas and Muskaan from Year 4 sang ‘Unto Us a Child is Born’ so beautifully.
Our new visiting cello teacher, Mrs Steventon, joined Emilia from Year 5, on the stage and announced that Emilia had only recently started playing the cello; she played two excerpts from ‘In Flight’ and ‘Fast Lane’.
Dhyana from Year 6 played Beethoven’s ‘Ode to Joy’ on her clarinet, followed by Year 4 pupil Laween’s violin piece ‘Read to Rock’. From Year 5, Marcus played ‘Melancholy Flute’ and also from Year 5, Amaan played the very catchy ‘It’s So Calypso Good’ on his guitar. Our final soloist Felix, in Year 6, played his piano piece ‘Tempo di Minuetto’ by Haydn.
To round off the concert, our Hallfield Orchestra came to the stage and performed ‘Land of Hope and Glory’ and ‘The Blue Danube’. It felt like we were at the Last Night of The Proms with Mr Morrow asking for a Union Jack flag to wave in tribute!
A big thank you to all our musical stars for taking part and, of course, a very big thank you to our Music teachers Mr Jopling and Mrs Edgar for organising the event!
