Sports Roundup – Friday 3 December

At Hallfield we’ve had another busy week for sport! With hockey against Winterfold and lots of House Matches, all children put on a super performance!

U9A vs Winterfold – 30 November 2021

Hallfield A 1 – Winterfold 7

The U9 team had an exciting match against Winterfold on Tuesday. Whilst the opposition started with the ball, Hallfield was quick to regain possession. Throughout the first 4 minutes, the game was fairly even however, that didn’t stop the defence duo Anshi and Yiran to overturn multiple plays performed by Winterfold. However, with this perseverance, Winterfold managed to gain a sneaky breakthrough and score the first goal of the game. A few minutes later, Winterfold managed to gain possession once again and score again just before the quarter time whistle. Following the quick team chat, the A team were quick to start again this time with possession of the ball and proceeded to push forwards into the attacking half. With brilliant running and ball placement from Ellen and Annie, they were able to utilise Anya playing centre forward who was superb with her skills and spatial awareness allowing her to have the first shot at goal. Even though it was unsuccessful it was still an excellent effort and the accuracy was superb.  However, even with this brilliant improvement luck was not on our side and Winterfold managed to score another goal with a sly breakthrough and scored. Coming up to the last minute before halftime, Winterfold scored another goal.

After half-time and an uplifting team chat contributed by the whole team, Hallfield started off with a bang. With Olivia making a quick run for the goal and a brilliant pass from Anshi, Olivia was able to place the ball straight in front of her and sweep the ball straight into the corner of the goal. Brilliant goal Olivia. Despite the team’s efforts, Winterfold was able to score another 3 goals within the remaining time. The player of the match was given to Olivia for her excellent goal!

Even though it was a tough loss for the team, the spirit remained high and the game acted as a brilliant learning experience for the girls.

Hallfield B 2 – Winterfold 1

It was an exciting match with both teams putting in some good tackles. The play moved from end to end with some good defending from Kathryn Okunade and Hana Benbelkacem who were ably supported in the attack by Lucilla Murdocca, Humaira Najib and Siyona Raj. Hallfield took the lead early into the second period of play with a super goal from Lucilla, however, after a good break away Winterfold managed to equalise. Good strong play in midfield from Zia Hussain and Lamiya Kaderbhai for the remainder of the game ensured that Hallfield kept the ball in the opposition half. After some super, determined play close to the end Siyona took her chance to score the winning goal. A great afternoon of Hockey was thoroughly enjoyed by players and supporters in which the girls learnt a great deal. Final score 2-1 to Hallfield. Well done!

Some great house hockey has been played this week. Results as follows:

Yr 5-7 house hockey:

1^st – Nowers

2^nd – Ridgway

3^rd – Pughe

4^th – Stork

Yr 3&4 house hockey:

This could not have been closer! Pughe were the out and out winners having won every match, but I had to go to goals scored and then goals conceded to get the order for Nowers, Ridgway and Stork as they each won 1 and lost 2. Results:

1^st – Pughe

2^nd – Ridgway

3^rd – Nowers

4^th – Stork

Well done to all the girls who played, they represented their house proudly.

Year 6:

Year 5:

Both Nowers and Stork had won 2 matches and drew when they played each other. They both had scored exactly the same number of goals – 11 but Stork had conceded one goal against Pughe and so only had a goal difference on +10, where Nowers had a goal difference of +11!

Year 3:

Both Nowers and Stork had won one match, lost one and drew one, goal difference the same, but Stork had scored one more goal so they get 2nd spot.
