At Hallfield we’ve had another busy week for sport! With football matches against West House and hockey against Eversfield, all children put on a super performance!

Hallfield V West House – 22 & 23 November 2021

This week saw a large number of football matches being played at Hallfield against our local rivals West House. On Monday and Tuesday both our U10s and U9s put out A – E teams and all the boys, and some girls played.

U10 A-E – 22 November 2021

On Monday the U10A team put in a fantastic team performance, but it was Adam who got the glory with a hattrick of goals. The C team had an exciting match with just one goal separating the teams. The D team played well and were boosted by a few girls who strengthened the team. A mention must go to Abdul in the E team who held the team together and scored most of our goals – a definite man of the match – well done!

U10

A team – won 4 – 0

B team – lost 4 – 2

C team – won 1 – 0

D team – lost 2 – 0

E team – won 4 – 2

U9 A-E – 23 November 2021

On Tuesday the U9 A team were asleep for the first half, allowing West House to score 3 goals. However, the boys rallied together, not giving up and the twins managed to level the score in the second half.

A special mention must go to Dhyan who scored all three of the B team goals and to Mark who made many great saves in goal. Similarly, Ayansh in the C team scored both their goals – well played!

U9

A team – drew 3 – 3

B team – drew 3 – 3

C team – won 2 – 1

D team – drew 3 – 3

E team – lost 5 – 0

U9A and B vs Eversfield – 23 November 2021

The U9s had their first away hockey match at Eversfield on Tuesday. It was a bit of a surprise to the girls that they would be playing against teams that included boys but they did not let this put them off.

The A team had a really tough match and a couple of the Eversfield players were very experienced. However, after a shaky start where Eversfield pulled ahead, the girls settled into the game and created chances of our own. Unfortunately, it was not enough to beat Eversfield and we lost by quite a few goals. I was very proud of the girl’s resilience and determination throughout the game; they did not drop their heads when we were losing.

The B teams were more evenly matched. We had a strong start and Hallfield had quickly scored 2 goals to pull ahead of Eversfield. Eversfield scored 1 in the second half which we equalised – but sadly our goal was shot outside the D so did not count. The girls worked really well together and remembered to keep in their positions. The final result was 2-1 to Hallfield. Well done girls, you represented the school wonderfully.

U8s A and B team V West House – 25 November 2021

Hallfield 2 – West House 0

In the A-team fixture, the Hallfield boys knew they needed to bring their A-game after losing 2-0 to West house the last time the two sides met. Anay scored a volley early on off a wonderful corner from Aarav and this was followed shortly after by a great finish from Cai to end the first half 2-0 up. The boys defended very well in the second half to keep their lead and finish the game winning by 2 goals.

Hallfield 3 – West House 3

Hallfield had a dominant start in the B team match with a couple of good opportunities to score however, West house scored first. In response, Hallfield scored two but West house equalised. Another goal for both teams meant that the game finished 3-3. A very exciting end to the match.

This is an amazing result as when they played each other a couple of weeks ago at West House they lost 9 – 1!

U11 v West House

With a fast-paced start to the game, Hallfield fell behind to some strong attack from West House, putting our defence under pressure and scoring two goals in quick succession. We seemed to rally and Hallfield started playing superbly as a team. West house made an error and passed the ball across their goal, which was quickly snapped up by our forwards and skilfully placed into the back of the net. The comeback had begun! Hallfield were then able to find their forwards again, with a lovely through ball and scored just at the turn of halftime. The score was now level at 2-2. The tension was now tenable, as we went into the break. Starting the second half, there was some fantastic defending, which held our line well and we were able to hold a strong West House side off for most of the second half until they broke our defence and scored a well-worked goal. Hallfield however showed real grit and determination and managed to dig in to score the equaliser following a superb build-up from our own goalmouth. The game ended at 3-3 and I think all the spectators agreed that it was an excellent game to watch. The players left the pitch having given their all. Well done Hallfield!
