Hallfield Footballers Come 1st in Aston Villa Foundation Tournament

Today nine different schools, including Hallfield, competed in the Aston Villa Foundation‘s EFL Kids Cup tournament and we came out winners!

We won our group with 3 wins out of 3 scoring 9 goals and letting in 1.

In the semi-final, we came up from 1 goal down to win 2-1 vs St Chads Catholic Primary School.

In the final, we faced Blue Coat School again who we had already beaten 5-1. We took an early lead but unfortunately, they equalised before halftime. Neither side could force a winner in normal time, so it went to penalties.

Each team would get 3 attempts before going to sudden death.

We scored all 3 of ours and our goalkeeper, Kaaraj, saved the first Blue Coat penalty so we ended up tournament winners for the third time. This means we go on to the next phase of the competition which takes place later in the school year at Bodymoor Heath, the Villa training ground.

Well done to the eight boys who all put in a great shift. I would also like to give a shout out to our two intrepid and vociferous supporters, Mrs Doal and Mrs Bland, who shed tears of joy at the end.

Mr Tobin
