As Hallfield School celebrates 140 illustrious years and continues to excel at providing a broad and balanced education, we would like to extend an invitation to the local community to visit our first ever Year 9 Destinations Fair on September 12th at 6PM.
Come and meet the most prestigious senior schools from the Midlands area and explore the life-changing educational opportunities that are available to your child. A selection of the schools in attendance at our Destinations Fair includes Rugby, Repton, RGS Worcester, Malvern College, Warwick, Malvern St. James, Wrekin, Shrewsbury High, and Adcote. Each school exhibiting will be available to answer a wide range of questions covering entry requirements, scholarships and bursaries, day and boarding facilities and much, much more.
Hallfield recently announced their expansion into Years 7 and 8 starting September 2020. The Destinations Fair will give parents the chance to discuss this unique opportunity for their child, before moving to Year 9. Hallfield becomes the only Birmingham co-educational Prep School up to 13 years. Traditionally, pupils entered Public Schools as boarders or day pupils in Year 9. Whilst Hallfield will continue to offer a pathway at 11+ to local independent and selective grammar schools, we know that starting a new senior school at the end of Year 6 is not the right choice for everyone. Many parents feel that at the age of 11 years, their child is not ready to either commute a longer distance or board. Equally, some pupils need more time to mature and develop in a familiar, more secure environment a Prep school can offer.
The curriculum for Hallfield Seniors in Years 7 and 8 is specially designed to be both broad and well-balanced and will give each child a thorough preparation for Year 9 entry into public schools. It will be based on the Key Stage 3 curriculum, whilst offering the opportunity to develop independent learning and research skills. It is envisaged that the children will be able to take full advantage of the cultural and learning opportunities within the Birmingham region and will also undertake residential visits. Through the wider curriculum, senior pupils at Hallfield will be given leadership opportunities to help them not only prepare for their next stage of education, but for life. Additionally, our Enrichment Programme will run in parallel to the curriculum, offering our pupils the chance to develop life-long skills to foster independence, resilience, teamwork, entrepreneurship, citizenship and social responsibility. Year 7 and 8 classes are expected to be in the region of 15 pupils per group, enabling individualised and focussed preparation for the Common Entrance exams.
With excellent facilities, extensive grounds and specialist teachers alongside our new STEM curriculum, we are exceptionally well placed to deliver a unique independent education within the Greater Birmingham area. We, at Hallfield, look forward to welcoming you to this event and showcasing the wide range of educational opportunity that is on offer for your child.
