Able Writers’ Day

A lucky group of 12 Year 3 and Year 4 writers had a wonderful opportunity on Thursday 28th when they were invited to work with the hugely charismatic poet, Terry Caffrey, at Tiverton Academy in Selly Oak. Terry is an extremely talented performance poet who has worked in over 4,500 schools, libraries and festivals throughout the UK and numerous schools overseas.

Terry was commissioned to write by the Roald Dahl Foundation and had the lyrics to one of his songs (originally a poem) chosen to be one of the official children’s songs for the 2012 Olympics! He was the North West’s first ‘author/reading champion’ and regularly works with the Halle Orchestra in Manchester and Manchester City FC. We had a thoroughly entertaining day creating our own poems, and the quality of the work produced was very impressive indeed. Thank you Terry!
