Colts Football Tournament

On Sunday 13th September the Colts football 6 a side team took part  with 15 other schools in a tournament at Shrewsbury School. The team won its group of 4, with 3 wins out of 3, going on to win 2-0 in the quarter final. They lost 3-1 in an exciting semi-final. Well done to all the boys who took part. Mr D Tobin.

Vixens Hockey Tournament

The Vixen team viseted Bromsgrove School for a hockey tournament on Wednesday 12th November.  It was a well atended affair with 16 schools participating.

In the first round the girls came up against Winterfold School.  A previous match against Winterfold had resulted in a 5-0 loss, so the girls were desperate to achieve a better result.  A strong defensive line ensured that Winterfold did not score and the end result was 0-0.

Following a match against Cheltenham College, the final game in this round was against Grace Dieu School.  Cheltenham had beaten then 5-0 and Winterfold had beaten them 1-0, for Hallfield to qualify for the quarter finals the girls had to beat them 2-0.  Each match lasted for 12 minutes.  After 7 minutes Shree Hemahl managed to score, with excitement  rising and the time ticking the girls continued to fight for possession of the ball.  In the last couple of minutes Phoebe Georgevic managed to score our 2nd goal securing Halfields place in the next stage.

For the quarter final Hallfield were drawn against Foremark Hall.  The girls defended well but some of their passes were intercepted by Foremark.  Although Hallfield had one lucky break they could not put the ball in the goal, however Foremark strong in attack and defence managed to score 2 goals.

Although Hallfield left the tournament at this point the girls had a really enjoyable day.  They played some very skilful hockey and worked well as a team.  The final took place between Foremark and Cheltenham.  This reassured the Hallfield girls that they had been knocked out by the two stongest teams.  Well done to the Vixens.

Under 9 victory at Prestfelde

There is always a strong field at the 6 a-side tournament at Prestfelde, a tournament that Hallfield has never won before. Ten teams took part and in our group of 5 Hallfield won all 4 matches scoring 18 goals and conceding 0, Daniel Black being a prolific scorer!

In the semi -finals we played King’s Chester, a large footballing school and 4 times previous winners. It was a very tough game and we went 1-0 down. We equalised and the score was 1 all at full time with no goals scored in extra time. Penalties! We won the game with two good penalties from Lewis Smith and Abbas Mirza and great goalkeeping by Rohit Suglani.

In the final we played Packwood Haugh and Lewis (still only a Year 3 pupil) scored twice. Packwood scored but with heroic defence from Freddie Edge and Ikhlaas Ahmed, we won the match 2-1.

Captain Ben Hale, unofficial player of the tournament, collected the trophy from the Mr Mark Groome, Headmaster of Prestfelde.

Under 10 Football

The Under 10 ‘A’ team have made pleasing progress this term.  Having started off with a heavy defeat at the hands of West House School (2-9) and another defeat at Birchfield School (2-4) they managed to keep a clean sheet against Prestfelde School (0-0).  The most pleasing aspect of this latest game was the manner in which the boys played, working together as a team, both in attack and in defence.

The Under 10 ‘B’ team have also developed at a pleasing rate with some very good results – they are, at present, unbeaten this season.  Not only are they unbeaten, but they have won all their matches very comfortably, beating West House (8-1), Birchfield (5-2) and Prestfelde (7-1).
