Art

The Art Department aims to provide a stimulating and exciting environment where students can develop their artistic creativity, developing their visual and reasoning skills through appreciation of a vast range of artworks and practical hands on experiences.

At Hallfield we strive for excellence and aim to provide our students with opportunities to experience as much art as possible through a programme of regular exhibitions around Hallfield School, entering national competitions and visiting local galleries.

Facilities are extremely impressive with a large studio classroom, with the possibilities for printing on the etching press, ceramics with the use of the kiln and space to create collaborative art from recycled materials.

Pupils at Hallfield are encouraged to reflect on their work progress regularly and respond to art by the use of sketchbooks from both first hand observations as well as collected research to support their inspirational artworks. They study the work of a  range of artists and look at the historical context of different movements in the art world from ancient sources to a more modern and contemporary works.

We endeavour to create an atmosphere where every child succeeds in being creative and is able to reflect in their own performance. They begin to develop an awareness of what is good and areas to improve on.
