Year 2
Pre-Prep children
Year 2, for 6-7 year olds, builds on the concepts, knowledge, skills and understanding your child gained in Year 1. His or her learning programme will include requirements for Key Stage 1 of the National Curriculum and elements of Key Stage 2 in English and Mathematics.
We will continue to liaise closely with you as parents on your child’s progress; we want him or her to achieve his or her potential, whatever that might be, and are happy to advise you how best to support your child at home. We will also do all we can to provide the happy, caring and respectful environment necessary for your child to develop both academically and in the round. Regular parents’ evenings and reports will help us work together, but we are also available whenever you want to discuss matters with us beyond these formal times.
Our aim is that your child transfers smoothly to the Upper School as a happy, balanced child with an imagination that has been awakened and the beginning of a lifelong love of learning.
To ensure that your child develops into a rounded individual, we will also arrange educational outings such as theatre visits. He or she will also have a chance to develop in confidence by participating in concerts and drama productions to which you, as parents, will be invited. Extra-curricular activities for this age group include the following.
