Pastoral Care

Miss Smith Head of the Girl's Pastoral Care

Head of Pre-Prep with two children
We use the term ‘pastoral care’ to refer to the systems we have in place to provide for your child’s wellbeing – physical, emotional and social.
Like you, we want your child to enjoy coming to school and to be happy, for happiness will be key to his or her success. However, children can’t be happy and successful all the time – they have to learn to fail as well. Indeed, part of the process of success is learning to fail. We do not subscribe to the cotton wool culture but our approach will foster your child’s independence without leaving her or him to flounder. Your son or daughter will learn about consequences in a safe and supportive environment.
The form teacher is responsible for overseeing both the academic and pastoral care of your child. We hope that the relationship between the form teacher and your family will be such that everyday niggles can be ironed out speedily to your satisfaction. However, the members of staff listed below all have specific pastoral responsibilities and can also be contacted to discuss pastoral matters, should the need arise:
- Head of Pre-Prep and Hallfieldfirst, Mrs. Linda Pain (Pre-prep)
- Deputy Head, Mr. Joe Thackway (Years 5-6)
- Assistant Head, Mrs. Amanda Cochrane (Years 3-4)
- Miss Eve Smith (Girls Years 3-6)
