Menus
Your child will sit down to a hot meal every day with his or her peers and members of staff. Every day he or she will be able to choose from a meat or vegetarian dish; jacket potatoes, a salad bar and a pudding or fresh fruit.
All our food is cooked in house using the freshest ingredients which are locally sourced where possible. We use organic milk and yoghurt and free range eggs, and the school is a nut free zone. All menus are approved by a qualified dietician to ensure your child receives a well-balanced and nutritious meal. We also ensure that dishes containing wheat, dairy, tomatoes, eggs and beef are labelled for those with intolerances or particular dietary requirements.
Halal Food
Halal food will be introduced from the start of the Summer Term 2012 as an option, for a trial period, in the main School Dining Hall (Years 1 – 6 inclusive). Halal will be served from the main counter, clearly marked and if your son/daughter wishes to eat Halal food they should make themselves known to the Kitchen staff.
Halal meat will be supplied by our meat supplier (fully certified), cooked in a separate oven to avoid cross contamination and served in dedicated containers. We will use vegetable oil for cooking, no alcohol based flavouring or colouring will be used and no animal based additives will be used.
Themed food days, such as Chinese Day or Pancake Day occur frequently, and are always popular with pupils and staff alike.
