Job Vacancies

 KEY STAGE 2 TEACHER

The appointment arises because of the retirement of Mr John Padden in August 2012 after 18 years’ dedicated service to Hallfield.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking to appoint a full-time, committed and enthusiastic person to teach in the Upper School (Years 3 – 6 inclusive). The person appointed would be expected to have real talent and passion for teaching Maths, being able to extend and challenge gifted Year 6 pupils and deliver the Maths curriculum to at least Level 6. An ability to work as part of different teams will be essential and the successful candidate will be required to teach another prep school academic subject, and you should list these in order of preference in your letter of application. We will try to engineer a specific timetable to your academic strengths upon acceptance of the post, all of which we will talk more about at interview.

Pupils leave Hallfield for a wide range of selective independent and grammar schools at the end of Year 6 and our reputation in this aspect is outstanding. You will see from looking at the Pupil Destinations list for September 2011 that a large number of children received an offer/scholarship from some of the most selective secondary schools in the country. The pupils’ performance in the 2

Maths paper in the entrance examinations (along with English) is fundamental to their success at this level – hence the reason we need a person with real flair for Maths.

An ability to teach Boys’ Games to a good standard would be very welcome, but this does not

in any way preclude you if this is not your strength or you have no expertise in this area – our underlying requirement is a first rate classroom practitioner. September 2012, but if this is not possible a start date of 1st January 2013 is acceptable. Person specification

The appointee will be able and prepared to display the following skills and aptitudes:

 Outstanding and proven classroom practitioner.

 High level of subject knowledge and expertise pertaining to Maths and the teaching of Maths.

 Ability to work in a team and yet show initiative at all times.

 Positive disposition around the School on a daily basis.

 Keen sense of organisation and punctuality.

 Ability to differentiate in the majority of all lessons taught.

 Ability to be supportive at all meetings.

 Ability to deal sensitively with children, staff and parents and tackle problems promptly, as they occur.

 Possess a good sense of humour.

Salary

Salary will be on the favourable Hallfield Scale.
