Hallfield Chess Champion

April 23, 2010

chess-team-jan-10Aloysius Lip enjoyed his best tournament to date by coming joint 2nd equal overall in the IAPS Championships, an event that included players from the U13 category. He  was also joint winner of the U11 title, sharing this with Daniel Muir, an established junior international. This is a great achievement having been ranked 9th in a field of 50 players.

The Hallfield team finished joint first with Nottingham High School  in the U11 team championship  and joint first, again with Nottingham High School, in the overall event that is, effectively an U13 event. They were up against a strong opposition of well-coached London school children so congratulations are well deserved!

The individual results are:

Aloysius Lip  5.5/7

Matthew Fergusson  4.5/7

Ashwin Kalyana  4. 5/7

Hari Nijjar  4/7

Aaron Vitarana  4/7

Aaron was competing for the first time with a much stronger opposition than he has done previously and met the challenge brilliantly
